More About Me

Who am I?

I was born in a small town in the suburbs of New York State near the New Jersey border.  Growing up was much like the 1983 classic movie "A Christmas Story" which I heard was based on my hometown.  We were a large family and very involved in our community and church.  High school years included many activities in sports, music, theatre, and of course academics.  College was at S.U.N.Y. Potsdam, Crane School of Music followed by a number of years working in a children's psychiatric hospital (which became the setting for the T.V. series "Orange is the New Black") as a recreation therapist, public schools as a music teacher, and the parks department as a swimming and springboard diving coach.  In 1988, I came west to hike the Pacific Crest Trail and settled on Bainbridge Island with nothing but my backpack and never looked back.

After earning my real estate license I went to work at Deschamps Realty, a local luxury real estate firm.  That office sold the first million-dollar property on Bainbridge Island shortly after I started there.  I also renewed my springboard diving coaching career and became involved in various local organizations such as the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Chair of the Grand Old 4th of July Garbage and Recycle Committee, Lions Club, Kitsap County Association of Realtors Board of Directors, Washington Association of Realtors State Director, Bainbridge Business Connections, and various other community service organizations.  I love the island, its history, and its old-time culture.

For over 20 years in the business, I was a real estate business partner with the legendary Bill Barrow, the Godfather of real estate on Bainbridge Island.  He was an icon in the industry, a legend in the community, and a friend to all.  He is well missed.

I believe that Real Estate is an honorable profession and should be practiced with altruism.  It is a service you either need or you want.  Knowledge, trust, organization, and communication are key elements to a successful transaction.  If you are considering selling or buying real estate in the Bainbridge Island or North Kitsap areas, please give me a call.

And by the way, my email address is not a boost to my ego. It's just that there is a female Chris Miller in the Windermere network and I didn't want her to be bombarded with emails meant for me!

Thank you, and stay well.
